FOTODOK and Arts in Conflict (Vrede van Utrecht) present the outdoor exhibition The Rise of Populism in Europe (project in progress)
In The Rise of Populism concerned photojournalists from different European countries go in search of (political) populist shifts close to home. The launch of this multi-annual project will take place outdoors.
Andrea Gjestvang portrays survivors of the attacks by Anders Behring Breivik; Ed Thompson shows the movements of the rightwing English Defence League (EDL); Jan-Jospeph Stok photographs Roma whose lifestyle is under threat in France, and Dirk- Jan Visser writes his own pamphlet. Each photographer has their own angle, focused on local situations. The photographers’ series will develop (further) during the course of the project.
On 20 September the photographers, project manager Michelle Q. Hamers, sociologist Merijn Oudenampsen, Belgium artist Filip Berte and the audience will take part in a discussion moderated by Friso Wiersum (Vrede van Utrecht) and Femke Lutgerink (FOTODOK)
