Objects in MirrorThe Imagination of the American Landscape

The road movie Easy Rider, Yellowstone National Park, Route 66, Stephen Shore’s Uncommon Places or David Lynch’s Twin Peaks; these random names and places immediately fire the imagination. Objects in Mirror shows just how deeply the American landscape has penetrated our daily lives:in films, adverts, books and music. Fact and fiction merge in a landscape that lends itself to being viewed through a frame, be it a car window or a television screen. Using visual work and text, as well as posters, reproductions, facsimiles, paintings and other objects, Gremmen takes us on a journey through his imagination of the American landscape.

Objects in Mirror presents work by Marie-José Jongerius, Venturi Scott Brown Associates, Harmen Liemburg, Helmut Smits, Elian Somers and others. Published to coincide with the exhibition is a book which includes contributions from Rixt Bosma, André Waardenburg, Caroline von Courten and Raymond Frenken.

FOTODOK presents the exhibition Objects in Mirror at Centraal Museum Studio, Agnietenstraat 2 in Utrecht (opposite Centraal Museum).
